I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who believes in the resilience of others. I believe that life is entirely relational, and that working within the context of relationships helps ensure long-term treatment success. Relationships can take effort; however they are also our greatest source of happiness. When we feel understood, valued, and loved in our relationships, our self-confidence increases.
I work with individuals, families and couples that are working on healthy communication, divorce recovery, dating, infidelity recovery, domestic violence, recovering from narcissistic or sociopathic abuse, and self-esteem. My approach is direct, empathetic, and empowering. I use a combination of theories in my approach to best support my clients which include: Contextual Family Therapy and Narrative Therapy, as well as techniques from the Gottman Method, the work of Ester Perel, CBT, and Somatic Therapy. I am also certified in personality disorder treatment to better support my clients who are recovering from narcissistic or sociopathic abuse.
We can work together to raise your voice and regain a sense of connection to yourself and those that are important to you, as you redefine what happiness means to you.
I received a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from LaSalle University, and I have a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education from Penn State University. In addition to my work as a therapist, I was an adjunct professor at Temple University where I taught Interpersonal Communications, Team Process, and Why Care About College?
I am also heavily involved in advocating for male, female and children survivors of domestic violence. One of my passions is to speak locally and around the United States to therapists, divorce professionals (i.e. attorneys and mediators), court officials, and first responders about how they can better support victims of abuse.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy kickboxing, cooking tasty allergen-free foods, all things Penn State, and checking new experiences off my yearly bucket-list. Fun fact: I have never gotten rid of a single book since childhood.
I am a PA Licensed Therapist and Career Counselor. I work with individuals ages 17 and older, but specialize in the college-aged population (18-24) with a background in working as a college career counselor. I believe in the importance of setting goals throughout the therapeutic journey as accountability and personal responsibility. I am someone who celebrates the small wins, as I recognize the small wins as resiliency and intention. Keep going, keep growing!
I pride myself on my ability to build rapport and foster warm and welcoming spaces. My approach is empathetic and empowering, but I will challenge you when appropriate as therapy and counseling are opportunities for growth. I utilize a strength-based approach in combination with person-centered and cognitive behavioral therapy. Recognizing that you need help or support takes courage and bravery. Sometimes it is that first step that is the most difficult, but it is often this step that can be the greatest catalyst for change! I see you and celebrate your strength. Taking care of yourself is the best gift you can give to yourself, and others.
I completed a Master of Arts in Professional Clinical Counseling from La Salle University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. In addition to my work as a therapist, I worked in higher education with local universities as a college career counselor for seven (7) years, providing support to diverse populations of students and alumni. I feel that my knowledge of career counseling coupled with my role as a mental health therapist allows me to provide a dynamic approach when working with individuals.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, exploring new places, running, and snuggling on the couch with our dog, Piper. I am a lover of tacos, a good cup of coffee, a great book, and soaking up summertime!
I’m Michelle Snapp MA, LMFT, but you can call me Shelley…
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a background working with a diverse population of individuals and families in community based mental health for about 6 years. During this time I’ve come to learn that trauma, tragedy, and hardship can come knocking on anyone's door, no matter who you are or where you come from. Through my work I’ve had the privilege of seeing the resilience, strength, and recovery that can come out of such hardships.
I typically use an eclectic approach to therapy, combining CBT techniques, motivational interviewing techniques, and family systems theories. I also have a certification in Prolonged Exposure therapy, an evidence based treatment for PTSD. My work is also informed by cultural competency and trauma informed perspectives. It is important to me to understand the greater ecosystems, such as family, work, school, friends, and interests, that have influenced your experiences as a human being. I believe I’m the best fit for clients who are struggling with diagnoses such as anxiety and PTSD, and clients looking to focus on topics such as perfectionism, self-esteem, self-care, boundary setting, family/relationship conflict, navigating life transitions and major life events.
A tailored fit-
Though drawing from specific frameworks and theories is important, I also find therapy most successful when the interventions and techniques used are tailored to and agreed upon by each client. Therapy is a partnership! I see the therapeutic relationship as paramount to successful therapy, and it’s important to me to create a safe space for all of my clients. You’ll find that I have a kind, energetic, authentic, and friendly attitude, paired with the ability to support and motivate my clients towards change. Whether you’re in a place where you’re motivated for change or just need a compassionate listening ear, you are welcome as you are!
I’m looking forward to meeting you… Let’s partner up and see what we can accomplish together.
I received a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from LaSalle University. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Communications from West Chester University, with a minor in Theatre Arts.
In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am an avid Disney fan and Star Wars nerd. I also love spending time outside in nature, whether it's long days lounging on the beach or bundled up around a campfire making S’mores!
I take a collaborative approach in my work as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist because I believe that when a client is involved in their therapy process, it is empowering and can build connections in the office and beyond. When a client or family comes into a session with me, I meet them where they are, help define what growth and/or success means to them (academically, professionally, personally) and guide them forward on the journey they are exploring. I also take a gentle and compassionate approach in sessions. Feelings are valid, and I want my clients to feel safe, heard and understood. We are all works-in-progress, and in order to progress, sometimes we have to get uncomfortable because we don’t grow in our comfort zones.
My goal as a therapist is to help individuals and families develop useful coping skills, practice helpful thought patterns, and healthier communication dynamics that allow them to feel heard and understood. When clients are able to create a vision of who they desire to be, with clear action steps to achieve that vision, as well as communicate their plans to their support system, the possibilities are limitless.

Being born and raised in Turkey and living in many different parts of the country allowed me to develop a passion for understanding the complexities of human behavior and relationships early on. This passion led me to pursue my Bachelor degree at Koc University, Istanbul where I double-majored in psychology and sociology.
Driven by my curiosity and desire to make a positive impact, after completing my undergraduate experience in Turkey, I moved to the United States, and I continued my graduate experience at Drexel University and earned my Master Degree in Family Therapy. My cultural and educational background helped me to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the individual and societal factors that shape your experiences. For these reasons, I view your well-being through a systemic lens, and recognize the profound influence of your home environment, work life, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race and cultural background on your behaviors, feelings, and thoughts.
Whether you’re seeking to improve your relationship quality and satisfaction with your partner, or embark on a journey of self-discovery, I am committed to supporting you every step of the way. Regardless of what you have been through or where you find yourself today, you have the power to change where you go from here. As a therapist, I am here to hold space for your story, create a safe environment for you to explore your traumatic experiences, and support you in identifying which areas of your life you want to change.
