I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who believes in the resilience of others. I believe that life is entirely relational, and that working within the context of relationships helps ensure long-term treatment success. Relationships are hard and take effort; however they are also our greatest source of happiness. When we feel understood, valued, and loved in our relationships, our self-confidence increases. Isn’t that what we all desire? It does not matter if you are a teenager finding your way or an established adult; our relationships help us define who we are and what our worth is.
Whether you’re:
• An individual reconnecting with yourself after the end of a relationship; uncertain of who you are now and where you’re going…
• A mom who feels like she’s giving to everyone but herself; a mom feeling pummeled by perfection…
• OR a teen who feels like no one gets them; a teen who no one listens to…
We can work together to raise your voice and regain a sense of connection to yourself and those that are important to you, as you redefine what happiness means to you.

I’m Michelle Snapp MA, LMFT, but you can call me Shelley…
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a background working with a diverse population of individuals and families in community based mental health for about 6 years. During this time I’ve come to learn that trauma, tragedy, and hardship can come knocking on anyone's door, no matter who you are or where you come from. Through my work I’ve had the privilege of seeing the resilience, strength, and recovery that can come out of such hardships.
I typically use an eclectic approach to therapy, combining CBT techniques, motivational interviewing techniques, and family systems theories. I also have a certification in Prolonged Exposure therapy, an evidence based treatment for PTSD. My work is also informed by cultural competency and trauma informed perspectives. It is important to me to understand the greater ecosystems, such as family, work, school, friends, and interests, that have influenced your experiences as a human being. I believe I’m the best fit for clients who are struggling with diagnoses such as anxiety and PTSD, and clients looking to focus on topics such as perfectionism, self-esteem, self-care, boundary setting, family/ relationship conflict, navigating life transitions and major life events.
A tailored fit…
Though drawing from specific frameworks and theories is important, I also find therapy most successful when the interventions and techniques used are tailored to and agreed upon by each client. Therapy is a partnership! I see the therapeutic relationship as paramount to successful therapy, and it’s important to me to create a safe space for all of my clients. You’ll find that I have a kind, energetic, authentic, and friendly attitude, paired with the ability to support and motivate my clients towards change. Whether you’re in a place where you’re motivated for change or just need a compassionate listening ear, you are welcome as you are!
I’m looking forward to meeting you… Let’s partner up and see what we can accomplish together.

My wish for young people is for them to believe in themselves and their ability to grow and be successful. I take a collaborative approach in my work as a marriage and family therapist, as I help my clients define what growth and/or success means to them (academically, professionally, personally), as well as support them to develop who they aspire to be. When young people are able to create a vision for who they desire to be with clear action steps to achieve that vision, as well as communicate their plans with their support system, the possibilities are limitless.
My goal as a therapist is to help individuals and families create visions for success, as well as develop useful coping skills and healthier communication dynamics that allow all members to feel heard and supported.

Being born and raised in Turkey and living in many different parts of the country allowed me to develop a passion for understanding the complexities of human behavior and relationships early on. This passion led me to pursue my bachelor’s degree at Koc University, Istanbul where I double majored in psychology and sociology.
Driven by my curiosity and desire to make a positive impact, after completing my undergraduate experience in Turkey, I moved to the US, and I continued my graduate experience at Drexel University, Philadelphia and got my master’s degree from Master of Family Therapy. My cultural and educational background helped me to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the individual and societal factors that shape your experiences. For these reasons, I view your well-being through a systemic lens, and recognize the profound influence of your home environment, work life, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race and cultural background on your behaviors, feelings, and thoughts.
Whether you’re seeking to improve your relationship quality and satisfaction with your partner, or embark on a journey of self-discovery, I am committed to supporting you every step of the way. I believe that building a strong foundation in your relationship with yourself is paramount to achieving overall well-being and fulfilling connections with others. When you work with me, you can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental, and collaborative therapeutic experience that empowers you to live a more fulfilling and authentic life.

I believe our narratives are created at birth and influenced by our family systems, as well as our cultural value system that is much greater than ourselves. I believe that every individual is resilient and can rewrite a story that fits their personal and unique identity.
I use various therapeutic modalities, such as Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Trauma Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Therapy, as well as executive functioning skill development to support my clients' resiliency as they actively determine their life narrative.

I am a Registered Dietitian who specializes in helping those suffering from eating disorders. I believe that all clients can get to a place of recovery, and develop a healthy relationship with food and their bodies. Living in a society where diet culture is prevalent, and there is always a focus on body image, it is hard to understand what normal, regular eating looks like. My goal is to help clients get to a place where they can listen to their bodies’ natural hunger and fullness cues, trust themselves, and love themselves and their bodies for all of the things they CAN do.
I am a human just like everyone else, and I treat each client as an individual, an equal, not as a “sick” person. Together, we can work on challenging fear foods, establishing a meal plan that will help to heal your body and your mind, and get to a place where food is not always on the forefront.
