Under this law, health care providers and facilities are to give patients an estimate of the expected charges for non-emergency medical services not covered or being paid by insurance. Therefore, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining the total expected cost for your medical and mental health care, including psychotherapy services, during a 12-month period.
As discussed when scheduling an appointment, and stated on our intake paperwork, Choosing Change Counseling does not accept insurance. Payment is to be made at the time of service. However, we are happy to provide you with receipts to submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. It is your responsibility to contact your insurance provider to confirm if they provide out-of-network reimbursement, as well as to communicate to us the information and inclusions required on the receipt by your insurance company.
You can ask your healthcare provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
If you would like a Good Faith Estimate for your therapy services, please email your therapist or Miriah Rutledge at miriah@choosingchangecounseling.com
